TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE
1. PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS TO ATTEND ALL SESSIONS
Emphasize the importance of attending the group meetings every week during the assigned time. When students miss a session, they miss important discussions with their multinational group.
2. ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PREPARE FOR THEIR GROUP
Before each session, encourage students to take time to think about what they want to share with their group and come up with the questions they might want to ask their peers.
This way participants can make the most out of the group meeting time, and actively learn about new ideas and perspectives.
3. REMIND STUDENTS TO CHECK TECH
Students need to check in advance if they have a strong internet connection that allows them to communicate in real time with their group.
Help them understand the importance of being present 10 minutes before the scheduled time to ensure everything is working well.
4. ENGAGE STUDENTS’ CURIOSITY
Motivate your students to be active and engaged in the discussions during the session by modeling active listening. This will inspire them to listen openly to their group.
Encourage students to ask their peers questions about their experiences or views and share their own thoughts on what has been discussed.
5. MOTIVATE STUDENTS TO DO THE ASSIGNMENTS
Remind students to complete their assignments on time, before the weekly sessions. Promote the understanding that these activities are designed to help students maximize their learning and successfully complete the program.
6. EMPOWER STUDENTS TO SHARE THEIR PERSPECTIVES
Let students feel that dialogue sessions are a safe space where a learning experience is different from the regular classroom.
Support students in expressing their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences openly with the group, fostering understanding of each other’s perspectives.
