A Message From Our Executive Director, Salma Elbeblawi
Dear Partners and Friends of Soliya,
As we witness an increase in polarization across the globe, the demand for our approach to conflict is surging. Recent events at college campuses in the US show us how needed our approach to dialogue is everywhere. At Soliya we are mobilizing to meet the moment. We are expanding our work with universities and businesses to address the divisions in their institutions and create inclusive and equitable dialogue.
Leadership Update
To steer us through this time, we have appointed Michael Shipler as Acting Chief Executive Officer. I am delighted to welcome Michael in this new capacity. Michael's proven leadership and strategic insight will be instrumental in driving our continued expansion and enhancing our global impact.
"I'm delighted to be joining Soliya as the CEO," said Michael Shipler. "I have long admired this organization's innovative approaches to bringing people together across divides and use of technology. In these polarized times, Soliya's mission is critical and the programming offered is exactly what is needed. It's an honor to join this great group of people. I'm looking forward to engaging the whole Soliya community.”
Other Exciting Updates
I am thrilled to share some of our recent achievements that further our mission. Thanks to generous support from the Stevens Initiative, we are expanding our training programs to empower more individuals in constructive engagement and dialogue facilitation. Additionally, with support from PwC’s Charitable Foundation, we are extending our reach to more marginalized youth, providing them with vital opportunities for empowerment and engagement.
Our collaboration with the Ford Foundation’s MENA office will enable us to tailor our dialogue and training frameworks to the unique needs of the Middle East and North Africa, engaging youth constructively on pressing regional issues. In response to the increasing divisiveness, we have launched significant initiatives such as Campus Dialogue with Stanford University and Haverford College, and a Communication & Leadership training program with Google.
Over the next months, we are engaging with US colleges and universities to work with them to address polarization on campus, bringing students together from across dividing lines into dialogue.
As we move forward, I am inspired by the potential for deepening our impact on communities and individuals worldwide. Together, we forge a future where empathy and collaboration transcend division and discord. I look forward to what we will achieve together, with renewed commitment and enthusiasm.
